Delivery Receipts no longer from "System Administrator" in Exchange 2010
In Exchange 2003 when users checked the box in Outlook to request a delivery receipt, the resulting receipt would appear to be from System Administrator. In Exchange 2010 that same receipt seems to come from whichever Active Directory account holds the SMTP address postmaster@mydomain.tld. Is there a way to set the "from" back to System Administrator?

A little... After creating the Postmaster mailbox, delivery receipts on emails sent from a 2010 user to an external user now show as "Postmaster". Delivery receipts on emails sent from a 2010 user to a 2010 user show as "Microsoft Outlook". Right clicking "Microsoft Outlook" in that delivery receipt shows that user has "MicrosoftExchange329e71ec88ae4615bbc36ab6ce41109e" for an SMTP/smtp attribute and "MicrosoftExchange329e71ec88ae4615bbc36ab for X400. I don't see that object in Active Directory though. Can I get both internal and external Delivery Receipts to display as "Postmaster"? And if so, how?

Did you give the account a display name?Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems."

Postmaster's "Display Name" field is populated with "Postmaster" in 2008R2 ADUC. But EMC's "Simple Display Name" field is not populated when viewing 2010SP1's EMC. I used the EMC -> Recipient Configuration -> Mailbox -> right click -> New Mailbox to create Postmaster because the steps in that article didn't work on 2010SP1. When I followed the article I'd get A positional parameter cannot be found that accepts argument '-ExternalPostmasterAddress'. + CategoryInfo : InvalidArgument: (:) [Set-TransportServer], ParameterBindingException + FullyQualifiedErrorId : PositionalParameterNotFound,Set-TransportServer

Hi, See below document: Everything you wanted to know about read receipts and delivery reports but were (understandably) afraid to ask As the document said, “A further thing to note is that delivery reports originate from the system administrator or postmaster or Microsoft Exchange Recipient account (depending on which version of Exchange we are talking about) while Read Receipts come from the recipient that has requested a receipt.” Microsoft Exchange Recipient account unlike a mailbox, mail user, or mail contact, the Microsoft Exchange recipient isn't a typical recipient object. The Microsoft Exchange recipient isn't managed by using the typical recipient tools found in the Exchange Management Console (EMC) or the Exchange Management Shell. However, you can use the Set-OrganizationConfig cmdlet in the Shell to perform some configuration tasks. Understanding the Microsoft Exchange Recipient In order to modify the internet Recipient account, you need to run this command: set-organizationconfiguration. But as my test, even though I modify the display name of recipient account, the sender of delivey report is like this “Microsoft Outlook <test@domain.com>” It seems you cann’t modify the display name.
